As predicted UWA fans witnessed an all out war between Chris Hero and Lionel Knight at last months UWA event. Unexpectedly, Lionel Knight came out the victor as he was able to defeat his more experienced opponent, Chris Hero. Later that night, long after the show had ended, words were once again exchanged between the two competitors as tempers flared. Chris Hero’s tag partner, Claudio Castagnoli, had to step between the two heated men before another physical altercation would take place. In the heat of the moment, Lionel was heard saying “I just destroyed your boyfriend Castagnoli, how about you step up now!” This weekend sources tell us that Lionel personally called Castagnoli to relay the same abrasive message. Earlier today Castagnoli contacted us in regards to Lionel’s challenge. Castagnoli told us he would be in Leamington on April 25th and he is ready to battle Lionel Knight. Once again Lionel goes into this match as the underdog, but as we saw in March anything is possible. Lionel Knight versus Claudio Castagnoli may very well surpass Lionel’s previous performance with Chris Hero. This match shows all the makings of a true classic as these two men have never met before inside the squared circle.

After several long gruelling years of battling some of UWA’s top athletes Dan Paysan has finally lived out one of his dreams by capturing UWA gold. Before Paysan’s triumphant victory over former champion Hiromi Horiguchi, Paysan faced UWA new comer, Johnny Gargano. In the match that kicked off our 2008 season, fans witnessed an amazing display of athleticism as these two men battled it out with one another. During the later stages of the match Paysan was able to gain the upper hand and obtained the pin fall over Gargano. In a display of honour and sportsmanship, Paysan extended his hand to welcome his opponent into the UWA. Out of sheer disrespect, Gargano sucker punched Paysan and fled the ring area. Much like his mentor and now running mate, Josh Prohibition does after his matches. This week Paysan petitioned UWA management to give him a re-match against Gargano. Paysan was quoted saying “I know he doesn’t deserve a title shot but please do me this one favour bros. Please give me the opportunity to reclaim my honour. I can’t and won’t go down like that!” UWA agrees that Gargano does not hold the right to vie for the UWA Lightweight title, however we have decided to honour Paysan’s request and grant him the match as Paysan does hold the right for revenge. On April 25th Paysan may indeed get his chance at revenge against the dastardly individual, Johnny Gargano.

In recent months Brody Lee has taken the UWA by storm! With only two matches under his belt, he already has a strong fan base behind him. At last months event, fans witnessed the giant sized man tear apart three competitors in Gargano, Hollister, and Akira. The end of the match saw Lee’s vicious boot take the head right off of Akira Raijin. Many believe that Lee may be the one to finally defeat, current Canadian Champion, Josh Prohibition. Before Brody gets his title opportunity, he must first defeat UWA veteran, Matt Cross. Formally known as Mdogg20, Matt Cross has changed his name and image in UWA. Matt Cross has had no luck thus far in 2008 as he has suffered to extremely hard losses. However fans cannot deny what Cross has accomplished in the past. Cross is the man who single handily raised the bar in UWA and put us on the map. Cross wants nothing more than to capture a win against Brody and get back on track as he hopes to recapture UWA gold. Cross is still one of the worlds top high flyers and will surely use his high flying tactics against the much larger Brody Lee. The fate of both men’s standings hangs in the balance on April 25th. On May 26th, 2006, Derek Wylde made his unexpected and now historic UWA debut. On that surreal night, Josh Prohibition introduced fans to the newly crowned Lightweight Champion, Derek Wylde. Fans in complete shock and awe, watched Prohibition fasten the title around the waist of Wylde as he then proceeded to raise Wylde’s hand in victory. As the two celebrated in the ring, a familiar song began to play as Blackout’s Sabian emerged from the entrance way. Sabian hit the ring and demanded a title shot against the newly crowned champion. The over-confident Derek Wylde accepted and the two immediately waged war. That night fans witnessed a match of sure brutality and brilliance, as these two men gave it their all, as they demonstrated their incredible fighting spirits. As the war waged on, onlookers stood at attention as chants and cheers rang throughout the hall. When the dust finally settled fans had witnessed probably one of the best impromptu matches ever demonstrated, as Sabian was crowned the new Lightweight Champion. Unfortunately since their first battle, Sabian and Wylde have never had a rematch. Finally, after two long years of waiting, this match will finally take place once again.

After a delayed jaw recovery, doctor’s have finally unwired the jaw of Sabian and he has been cleared to wrestle. Last week UWA received a request from Sabian personally asking for a rematch against Wylde. As we all know Derek Wylde’s time is coming to an end and Sabian wants more than anything to wrestle him one last time. Wylde’s response to this challenge was simply “Bring it.”

UWA management has decided to sweeten the deal for these two men, as the victor will receive an immediate chance to face our UWA Canadian Champion, Josh Prohibition. As history has told, us when a title opportunity is put into the equation, emotions run wild as men will do whatever it takes to win. For Derek Wylde this might be the last chance of achieving one of his dreams, as he may potentially be crowned the UWA Canadian Champion. Wylde has gone on record saying “My two wrestling dreams were to wrestle in Japan and become Canadian Champion. I have accomplished one and still have one left to accomplish.”

On April 25th in Leamington, Ontario history will once again be made.
